Programme Overview
The Assam Energy Institute (a centre of RGIPT) offers an Integrated Diploma and Degree (IDD) pathway designed for the energy sector. Students join after Class X and progress through the integrated track (Diploma + B.Tech) in selected engineering branches, supported by a residential campus environment, industry interface and placement-focused training.

IDD is offered in multiple engineering branches at AEI, Sivasagar (seat distribution shown below):

- *Seats: 80 seats per branch
- *Category-wise distribution: UR 32 • OBC 22 • SC 12 • ST 6 • EWS 8
- *Seat split: 50% Assam & 50% rest of India
Admission Process
Admission is merit-based and considers performance in relevant entrance tests and/or Class X board performance as applicable, followed by the institute’s admission process (document verification / counselling as notified).
- *Accepted inputs: AAT / state polytechnic entrance / relevant entrance tests and/or Class X board score (as applicable)
- *Preference: North-East candidates may be preferred over candidates from rest of India (as per admission rules)
Minimum qualifying score:
- *Unreserved (UR): AAT 30% • Polytechnic entrance 40%
- *OBC/EWS: AAT 25% • Polytechnic entrance 35%
- *SC/ST/PwD: AAT 20% • Polytechnic entrance 30%
Eligibility
Eligibility is based on Class X performance (especially Mathematics & Science), age criteria and entrance/board merit as applicable.
- *Class X: Minimum average marks in Mathematics & Science: General/OBC 40% • SC 35% • ST 33%
- *Age limit: General/OBC 22 years 6 months • SC/ST 25 years 6 months • PwD 27 years 6 months
- *Residential requirement: Full-time on-campus programme at AEI, Sivasagar
Fees & Scholarships
Below is a high-level overview of the fee and scholarship structure. Exact amounts and timelines are as per the latest notification/brochure.
- *Diploma fee (per semester): Total ₹18,700 (GEN/OBC/EWS) • ₹14,700 (SC/ST/PwD)
- *One-time (non-refundable): ₹2,000
- *Caution money (refundable): ₹4,000
- *First semester institute dues: ₹24,700 (GEN/OBC/EWS) • ₹20,700 (SC/ST/PwD)
- *Hostel at occupancy: ₹24,000 (includes hostel + mess advance as applicable)
- *Scholarships: Merit-cum-means for top 10% (25% tuition fee waiver) • 25% tuition fee waiver for SC/ST/PwD (as applicable)
- *Financial aid: Education loan availability and scholarship support via National Scholarship Portal (NSP) / state/central agencies
